To check your LTO plate number, you have the option to text LTO. Open up your phone and your text messaging app. Send the message “LTO VEHICLE [your vehicle’s plate number]” to 2600.

The number you messaged should send you details about your car as well as verify your plate number. Note that sending a message to this number will cost around PHP 2.50. To make sure you’re getting it right, here’s an example of what you should send to 2600 –  “LTO VEHICLE RKZ312”.

2. The LTO Website

Another way you can check your LTO plate number is through online means. To do so, you’ll have to access the Land Transportation Office (LTO) site. Once you find it, the website will ask you for vehicle information so they can search their database for your license plate.

Enter the needed information. Once you’ve entered the information, you can click “search”. Three possible results can occur. These are:

  • This means you’ve entered the wrong vehicle information.
• Wrong verification code
  • This means your confirmation code was wrong or you’ve entered the wrong one.
• License plate information is available
  • This means the information and confirmation code you’ve entered is correct.

Your vehicle is now registered.

Sometime after, you’ll need to renew your registration. This is a quick and relatively painless process. Here are the steps for renewal.

1. Access the LTO website.

Much like the initial registration, access the LTO website. Open your preferred search engine and open this link: https://lto.gov.ph/.

2. Navigate to the vehicle registration page.

Now that you’re on the website, open the drop-down menu next to the word “menu” and click on “vehicle registration”. Once you’ve clicked on that, you’ll be presented with an array of options. Click on “Renewal of Motor Vehicle (MV) Registration” because this is what you’ll need.

3. Renew your registration.

You’ll be presented with instructions to renew your registration, requirements, and other important information. Carefully read through the entire page and follow the instructions.

First, make sure you’re eligible to avail of a renewal.
